elcome to the Strike My Key Production Journal Pages. Jesse Howard,
the Director, kept a journal of thoughts, experiences, and anecdotes during the production
of this black and white short, only he didn't write it in a book or speak it into a tape recorder...
He wrote and sent it in the form of email to your's truly; his brother Todd. This took
place when I was still living on the island of Martha's Vineyard, off the coast of Cape Cod,
Massachusetts. The film shoot was taking place is Jesse's by-then-home-town of Seattle, Washington.
I
have gone through the journal entries and added commentary wherever
necessary for clarification (he often references obscure things from childhood or calls
people by their preferred nicknames) and these comments will be in boldface, and in
parentheses (like this). Feel free to write to
Jesse to discuss any of the filmmaking (or life) issues raised by these
journals. Enjoy!
